About Us > Mission Statement

The American Bass Association PA & NJ was organized with three primary purposes for: (1) to ensure the future of fishing through the protection and enhancement of the fishery resource; (2) to promote bass fishing across America as a major sport; and (3) to introduce youngsters to the joy of fishing, sportsmanship and instill in them an appreciation of the life-giving waters of America.

The key to the success of the American Bass Association PA & NJ is that it is your organization and every member has a vote. To keep things running smoothly there is a Board of Directors composed of elected members who are unbiased by any profit motive and dedicated to the mission of the Association. 

The American Bass Association PA & NJ mission is to provide an opportunity for "Weekend Anglers" to participate in a well-organized team tournament trail with a chance at making it to our annual "Classic". The "Classic" is a two day event held at the conclusion of each season for the top twenty teams based on points; as well as the past year's "Classic Champions". Beginning in 2007 we now extend a "Wild Card" berth from the last Points Tournament of the season to the highest finishing team which was not yet qualified via being in the top twenty in points. The only stipulation is that to be eligible the team must have fished all of the prior points tournaments. 

Perhaps and most important of all, the American Bass Association PA & NJ is all about having fun. Even though the tournaments are highly competitive events, you'll find the majority of the "competitors" to be very friendly and they might even help you catch more fish! However don't expect them to give you their best spots or baits - even American Bass Association members are human! So come on down and try a tournament, we think that if you do; you will have good time like the rest of us. It's up to you, we invite you to get involved, we are positive you won't be sorry that you did.
